Wellbeing Within Therapy San Diego

Yvonne Venger, LCSW

For over two decades, I have been privileged to work with amazing and courageous people from pretty much all walks of life.

Every place where I have worked has given me an incredible window into humanity, and has taught me more than I could have imagined about resilience and the human spirit.

While I work with a wide variety of individuals and couples, my primary specialties are working with people who are at a crossroads.  People who feel like their lives are out of their control, and not turning out how they expected. What my clients have in common is that they are brave to seek and accept help. And they are willing to do the internal work needed to effect the change they seek.

My approach is interactive, warm, supportive, respectful, intentional, and holistic. I meet the clients where they are and utilize the interventions that work best for them, uniquely.  If you are curious, the therapeutic interventions that I most utilize are psychodynamic, cognitive, insight-oriented, solution-focused, and strength-based.

I believe in collaborating with my clients, to help them feel positive about engaging in the therapeutic process and empowered to make the changes necessary to achieve a real sense of wellbeing in their lives.

Prior to becoming a therapist, my background includes a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Barnard College, Columbia University, a MA in Educational Technology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University.  For several years, I worked in the world of educational television in New York City and Los Angeles.  After obtaining my MSW, I completed an Advanced Fellowship at Thalians Ambulatory Outpatient Clinics at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, focusing on both child and adult psychotherapy. Before starting my private practice, I worked in a variety of non-profit agencies and in a large therapy group.

After a few years of being very part-time with my private practice while working other jobs, I shifted to full-time private practice in 2018.  When the pandemic hit, I shifted to online therapy and found that it works very well with psychotherapy.  Today, the bulk of my practice is online through a secure site.  I also offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

The key is to adapt and thrive where we are.
